Step-by-step instructions
Sit cross-legged on a folded blanket with a tall spine, and rest your right hand on the floor just behind your hips.
Inhale, lengthen up through the crown of your head, and gently engage your lower belly to support your lower back.
Exhale and twist gently to the right, bringing your left hand to your right knee or thigh to help guide the rotation.
Turn from your navel and ribs rather than yanking from your low back or neck, keeping both sitting bones evenly grounded so your hips and knees stay comfortable.
Lengthen a little taller on each inhale and twist a touch further on each exhale, holding for 5 to 8 breaths with a soft gaze past your shoulder.
Release back to center slowly, take a neutral breath, and repeat the twist to the left for the same length of time.
