Step-by-step instructions
From a low lunge, walk your hands back and stack your back knee under your hip, cushioning it with a folded blanket if it feels tender.
Straighten your front leg forward and flex that foot, drawing the toes back toward your face while keeping a soft micro-bend in the knee.
Place a block under each hand beside your front leg so you can keep your spine long instead of rounding down.
Inhale to lengthen your spine, then exhale and hinge forward from your hips, leading with your chest toward the front foot.
Hinge from the hips and keep your back flat to protect your lower back, easing off if you feel any rounding or strain there.
Hold for 5 to 6 breaths, then bend the front knee to come back to your lunge and repeat on the other side.
