Step-by-step instructions

  1. Stand tall with your feet about hip-width apart and your weight balanced evenly through both soles.

  2. Inhale and sweep both arms overhead, interlacing your fingers and turning the palms up toward the ceiling as you lengthen the whole spine.

  3. Exhale and bend gently to the right, keeping both feet grounded and reaching the arms up and over so you feel a long stretch down the left side body.

  4. Keep your hips facing forward and your low belly engaged so you bend sideways without collapsing or arching the lower back, and don't shrug the shoulders up toward the ears.

  5. Inhale to return through center, then exhale and sway to the left, moving slowly with the breath for several rounds on each side.

  6. Finish by returning to center on an inhale, then release the arms down by your sides and stand evenly for a few breaths.
