Step-by-step instructions

  1. From standing, step your feet about a leg's length apart, turn your right foot forward and angle your left foot in, then square your hips toward the front.

  2. Rest your left hand on a block placed inside or outside your right foot to keep your lower back long and supported.

  3. Keep a micro-bend in your front knee and your hips level as you hinge from the hips with a flat back, protecting both the knee and the lower spine.

  4. On an exhale, rotate your torso to the right and reach your right arm toward the ceiling, stacking your shoulders into one vertical line.

  5. Twist from the upper spine and keep both sides of your waist even and long so you never strain the lower back; hold for 3 to 5 breaths.

  6. To exit, lower your top arm, untwist on an inhale, rise up with a long spine, and repeat on the second side.
