Step-by-step instructions

  1. From a standing forward fold, place your fingertips on your shins, on blocks, or on the floor for support.

  2. On an inhale, lift your torso halfway up until your back is flat and parallel to the floor.

  3. Draw your shoulders away from your ears and reach the crown of your head forward to lengthen the whole spine.

  4. Engage your core and keep a soft micro-bend in your knees to take pressure off your lower back as you lengthen.

  5. Keep your neck in line with your spine, gazing softly at the floor a little ahead of you rather than lifting your chin.

  6. Hold for 2 to 3 steady breaths, then exhale to fold back down or rise to standing with a flat back.
