Step-by-step instructions
Sit on the floor and cross your shins comfortably in front of you, letting each foot rest under the opposite knee.
Stack your hips over your sit bones and grow tall through your spine, lifting the crown of your head toward the ceiling.
If your knees lift high or your lower back rounds, sit up on the front edge of a folded blanket so your hips are above your knees and the joints feel at ease.
Rest your hands on your knees or thighs, soften your shoulders down, and breathe slowly and evenly into your belly.
Hold for 1 to 3 minutes, keeping your face and jaw relaxed.
To release, uncross your legs slowly, then switch the cross of your shins next time so both sides are balanced.
