Step-by-step instructions

  1. Lie on your back with your legs extended and let your feet fall open naturally, arms resting a little away from your sides with palms facing up.

  2. Gently tuck your tailbone and lengthen your lower back toward the mat so your spine feels neutral and supported, sliding a bolster or rolled blanket under your knees if your low back wants more ease.

  3. Soften your shoulders down and let the back of your head, your jaw, and your face completely relax.

  4. Let your breath fall into a slow, natural rhythm and allow your whole body to feel heavy and still.

  5. Rest here for three to ten minutes, releasing any effort to control the body or the breath.

  6. To come out, deepen your breath, wiggle your fingers and toes, roll gently to one side, and use your hands to press up to a seat.
