Step-by-step instructions

  1. Kneel on the mat and bring your big toes together while letting your knees move out toward the edges of the mat.

  2. Exhale and sink your hips back toward your heels, then walk your hands forward and rest your forehead on the floor.

  3. Place a folded blanket behind your knees or a bolster under your torso if the knees feel pinched, easing pressure on the joints.

  4. Let your arms extend forward or rest them alongside your body, and allow your shoulders and chest to soften toward the ground.

  5. Breathe slowly into your back ribs, letting each exhale release tension along the spine and hips.

  6. Rest here for 8 to 12 breaths or as long as is comfortable, then walk your hands back and rise up gently to a seat.
