Step-by-step instructions
Sit upright with a long spine, placing a folded blanket under your sitting bones if the pelvis tips backward.
Bring the soles of the feet together and let the knees open wide to the sides, framing a diamond shape with your legs.
Hold the feet with both hands and ease the heels in toward your body to deepen the hip opening.
Allow the knees to soften downward naturally and never force them toward the floor, keeping the hips and inner knees safe.
Lengthen tall on each inhale, and on the exhale fold gently forward from the hip creases while keeping the chest broad and the back long.
Stay for 6 to 10 steady breaths, then walk the hands back, lift the torso, and bring the knees together with your hands to exit.
