Step-by-step instructions

  1. Start on all fours, then lower onto your forearms with your elbows stacked directly under your shoulders and your forearms parallel.

  2. Step both feet back until your body forms one straight line from your heels to the crown of your head.

  3. Press the floor away through your forearms to keep your shoulders broad and lifted rather than collapsing, protecting the shoulder joints.

  4. Draw your navel toward your spine and firm your glutes so your hips neither sag nor pike, keeping your lower back long and safe.

  5. Gaze slightly forward to lengthen the back of the neck and breathe steadily, holding for twenty to forty seconds.

  6. To come out, lower your knees to the floor and rest in Child's Pose.
