Is my camera data private? Yogin analyzes poses on your phone, so the video never leaves it

Yes, it is private. Yogin watches your pose through your phone camera, but the image never leaves your phone. All of the analysis happens on the device itself; no video is ever uploaded to a server. What gets interpreted is not the camera image but the skeleton geometry formed by your body's joints.

Here is how it works. As the camera watches you, the app tracks your body joints live: shoulders, hips, knees, wrists, ankles, and feet — 26 keypoints in all. The position of those points relative to one another determines which pose you are in and how well you are holding it, an alignment score. It is the geometry of those points, not a picture of you, that produces the score.

"On-device" means exactly this: the computation happens inside your phone. The image frame never leaves the phone, is never sent to a server, and is never uploaded anywhere. What the app works with is the skeleton read in that moment, not a saved video.

This is why privacy here is the architecture, not a setting. A privacy policy makes you a promise: "we won't share your data." But every promise assumes the data was first collected, sent somewhere, and that you now have to trust it will be protected. In Yogin the image never leaves the phone in the first place, so there is no video to leak, store, or share. Something that never exists cannot need protecting — and that is a stronger guarantee than a promise to protect it.

In practice this means you can practice in a room where you would not want to be seen, without worrying about how you look or what you are wearing. The same architecture holds when the camera counts reps: in Quick Burn it counts movements like crunches, squats, and climbers, but a rep only counts when the limb genuinely travels far enough to the target — small wobbles and noise never count. That counting, too, happens entirely inside your phone.
